Abstract
This study investigates the use of ultrasound to mitigate scale formation in pipelines within the iron ore filtration process. The formation of calcium carbonate scale, caused by the addition of lime and carbon dioxide, results in blockages, increased pressure, and equipment wear. Experimental tests for characterize and reduce the fouling were performed. The results suggest that while ultrasound may not be feasible for large-scale removal, it holds promise for scale prevention in mining pipelines.
