Abstract

Urinary tract infections are among the most common bacterial infections, often diagnosed through culture-based methods, which are time-consuming and costly. In this work, we developed a rapid, specific, and accurate point-of-care colorimetric sensor for indirect detection of Enterococcus faecalis in urine samples via its metabolite, L-lactate. The probe consists of silica nanoparticles loaded with MnO 2 , functionalized with the enzyme lactate oxidase The probe allows both visual qualitative analysis and spectroscopy quantitative analysis.
