Abstract
Pristine and MPTMS-functionalized Ti 3 C 2 T x and Nb 2 CT x MXenes were investigated as chemiresistive sensors for nitric oxide under variable humidity at room temperature. Functionalization preserved the layered morphology while modifying the surface chemistry and reducing water interference. Ti 3 C 2 T x showed a p-type-like response, whereas Nb 2 CT x displayed n-type behavior. MPTMS increased the response amplitude, especially for the niobium-based MXene, and enabled measurable signals at 5 ppm NO with sub-ppm detection prospects for breath analysis.
