Abstract

FITC film for pH sensing or ruthenium complex film for dissolved oxygen sensing was prepared inside a Y-shaped micro flow channel by using microcontact printing. Then pH or oxygen distribution in the flow channel was imaged as a fluorescence image by using a microscope equipped with a high speed laser confocal scanner unit. Response time (90% response) of the pH sensor investigated with phosphate solution of pH 4.5 and 9.3 was ca. 3 sec. Response time of the oxygen sensor was also the same. Mixing of two different pH or oxygen concentration solutions in various mixing ratios could be successfully imaged as the changes of fluorescence intensity.
