Abstract

A Raspberry Pi-based imaging platform is presented to characterise camera modules and imaging parameters for two contrasting optical detection modes: light-emitting (electrochemiluminescence, ECL) and light-absorbing (ELISA) biochemical assays. A monochrome camera and a colour camera without an IR filter are evaluated for ECL, while a colour camera with an IR filter is characterised for absorbance-based detection. Key imaging parameters, including focus, resolution, gain, and exposure, together with image file formats and analysis methods, are systematically evaluated and optimised for each detection mode. The results establish a unified and versatile imaging framework for multimodal optical biosensing.
