Abstract

This paper presents the fabrication and characterization of a sensor based on a nanostructured CuO thin film on a silicon substrate. We evaluated the sensitivity and selectivity of the sensor to ethyl or isopropyl alcohol at room temperature in the absence and presence of green light. Measurements of sensor responses on both light conditions show repetitive changes in selectivity, presumably based on sustancial changes in chemical interactions of analyte with excited nano-structured CuO thin film.
