Abstract
Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) has been a working horse in high-end analytics for decades. It covers the wavelength range from 0.9 to 2.5 μm (or 11000 to 4000 cm-1). This spectral range allows to measure overtone (0.9 to 2 μm) and combination bands (2 to 2.5 μm) of molecular vibrations in organic materials. The overtone bands are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd order overtones.
