Abstract
A radio frequency-based approach for dosimeter-type NOₓ detection using a Barium-containing NOₓ storage material is demonstrated. Dielectric properties were investigated by the microwave cavity perturbation method during controlled NOₓ storage. A clear linear correlation between dielectric losses and Ba-site utilization was established, demonstrating that the dielectric losses reliably reflect the stored NOₓ dose. Operando DRIFTS and impedance measurements provided mechanistic insight, revealing nitrate and nitrite formation as the dominant storage species governing the electrical response.
